Our Volunteers
GVDF includes a dozen of permanent volunteers, involved in most of the group’s activities. Some of us are foreigners and most of us live in Miraflores or areas close-by, making it easier to attend emergencies. We can also count on the assistance of temporary volunteers who help with punctual activities. All of our volunteers work and/or study aside from volunteering in the park, and none of us receive any compensation. In the end, we are all are cat-lovers who joined the group for different reasons.
Natalie Sanchez, who is currently at the head of the group, started as a volunteer 5 years ago. She organizes and attends every event, buys food and medical supplies, promotes adoptions campaigns (including on national TV), attends the cats in the park and at the Huachipa refuge, and gives foster care mostly to adult cats.
Apart from our volunteers, we rely on the assistance of two professional veterinarians: Dr. Ricardo Villa Ramirez and Dr. Yolanda Manco. Dr. Villa specializes in surgeries while Dr. Manco focuses on spaying and neutering the cats. Both of them attend the Kennedy Park cats at the lowest possible cost.
